rat breeding
so i thought i should throw out a update on my rat breeding and ask a few questions.
right now i have 19 breeding females and 2 bredding males
out of the 19 like 6 have had babies right now i got 35 pinkies....
ok question: whats the best way to get all the stages of rats pinkies, crawlers, weaners, smalls and mediums. i dont need large right now.
also how do you keep your blood lines clean?

Not sure I'm following your questions...freeze them off at different stages!!!
Clean bloodlines???? Why would you want inbred rats???

Re: rat breeding
I think when he says clean he means pure as in no inbreeding. I usely purify with Agottis.
Or straight blacks.
But personally. Why would you need to clean your rat line. Essp when feeders?
I think I'm so confused right now. What do you mean "clean"?

Re: rat breeding
When my production was better, I'd thin each litter down to 10 and grow them up to small. Then there's not much rhyme or reason, I'd just start using smalls as I needed them. I'd always keep about 10-15 to grow up to mediums or larges. Though depending on what you need to feed, it's not cost efficient to grow to large. You definitely don't want to grow your baby rats to jumbos, it's just not worth it by any means.
