Unhappy Mouth Rot in red tail boa

I have rescued a red tail boa from a family who couldnt afford to take her to the vet. She around 5 yrs old, and is absolutly beautiful. I knew she was sick when i got her, but my boyfriend does reptile rescue, and we both work at a 24 hr animal er clinic my question is this...
She hasnt eaten in about a month she weighs about 2 lbs, and is about 4-5 ft long, shes loosing wieght quick and just refuses to eat, we are treating her with bytril, and a novalsan solution, and tonight the Dr and i force fed her the critical care carnivore powder... my question, is do i feed this more often then i would normally feed her a rat? or the same? we fed her from a 60 cc syringe, which is fairly good size for people who dont know....
Any help would be appreciated by me, and my snake medusa....
Thanks!

A month without eating doesn't sound too bad to me. Has she seen a vet yet?

Yeah I take her with me to work, we have really great incubaters there that i like to put her in. she was acutally with me at work last night and we did some icq fluids and the critical care powdered food, only because we have tried to get her to eat everything else and she has no intrest. I honestly dont know exactly how long she hasnt eaten in, i have only had her shy of a month and when i was handed her the previous owner had said its been two weeks since she last ate.

Re: Mouth Rot in red tail boa

She's likely uncomfortable as heck, which is why she won't eat.. and with mouth-rot, it's no wonder. Mouth is probably sore and the last thing she really wants to do is use it.. poor girl. How bad is the stomatitis? Are you flushing out the mouth as well? I've read in a couple places, and was told by my vet, that it helps speed up recovery if you remove the cheesy 'plaques' from the gums. That gross cheesy-substance that's formed, but you have to do it carefully and make sure the snake doesn't swallow any, as it's loaded with bacteria and the last thing you want is her developing an infection in her esophogus.

Re: Mouth Rot in red tail boa

I have successfully used regular flavor listerine and a tooth brush to clean the infected area of the gums...this is a common safe medicinal drug.

Red face Re: Mouth Rot in red tail boa

we have had all the "cheesy" developments in the mouth surgically removed by a vet i work with, making sure that none was swallowed we rinse her mouth out with a very diluted nolvasan solution, her mouth all in all looks 100% better then when i was first given her. what worries me is her psychical appearance her skin almost looks like it hanging from her body, she used to drink bowl fulls of water and now she barely moves from one spot. it puts my mind at ease that i work at a place where i can bring her with me and dr's will help me tube feed her and give her all the icq fluids she needs. I just want my baby to be ok....
