burm, or anaconda
i think i'm going to take the next step up. i have 3 boas, 1 blood, 1 ball python, a cool little splendida king snake, but i want 1 that just mine, my girlfriend claimed the biggest boa. 6 months ago she would'nt be in the same room with a snake. now she loves em all. i think i broke her. anyway. what are the opinions out there, burm, or anaconda.

Re: burm, or anaconda
As long as you know what you are getting into and are prepared, either one would be fine.

Re: burm, or anaconda
This doesn't really seem like 'the next step' to me.
Give it time. Years.

Re: burm, or anaconda
If you do get one, keep a log of all of your expenses. I'm curious.

Re: burm, or anaconda
most yellows I've seen have a very fiesty attitude. That doesn't mean burms won't (my Apep thinks he can take me on at 4') but it's worth taking note.

Do not get an Anaconda. This is one snake that you must be very prepared for "time with other giants is a must". Their unmatched power, their size, and often sparatic feeding behavior makes them a boa for someone who is ready for a real nail biteing challange every week.

Re: burm, or anaconda
A yellow would be more difficult than a burm but smaller and less dangerous. How ever 2 experienced keepers are a must to be present at all times when dealing with a snake over 6 feet.
Wait until your boa is 8+ feet then decide if you could handle a mean snake 2-4 times as long.

Re: burm, or anaconda
I am writing a group of articles called "The Intermediate Keeper Series". You won't find burms or anacondas on any of those. I will be adding another species sometime this week... Glance through there and see if you see anything that takes your interest... I recommend bloods and short tails as they have the length of a ball, but the girth of a burm.
