Installing Flex Watt...
Well you asked for it so now you got it. Here is how to install flex watt in a wooden cage.
First the flex is wired up and placed into a 1/4" groove that was cut into the floor of the cage using a router.

Next construction adhesive is used to secure a piece of 1/8" thick tile board, shower surround, Plexiglass etc.. over the flexwatt

After the adhesive is dried then you go and caulk around the entire area to make sure it is water proof.

Now just add a thermostat and presto! in cage heat.

Re: Installing Flex Watt...
Very nice! I was wondering how you were gonna do that! How did you router the space for the flex watt? Did you chissle out the wood after your routered the outsides?

Re: Installing Flex Watt...
Is that much flexwatt necessary?
I'm, by no means, bashing you. Just curious

Re: Installing Flex Watt...
OK, n00b question here. Why not router the underside of the cage? The reason I ask is because if you routered out the underside of the cage I would think that be less of a chance of a leak through the caulk and shorting out the flexwatt. Or does the material you have inserted into the routered part allow more heat to pass through? Also does flexwatt need to have any ventilation? i was on a site yesterday that was saying if it didn't that it could overheat and catch fire.
Sorry for all the Q's, but I am *totally* new to this and I want to start learning as much as I can so i can build my snakes perfect home in athe next couple of years. thanks!

Re: Installing Flex Watt...
Flexx Watt will not pass through wood it would have to get way to hot to do any real good heating the enclosure. It does need to be able to breathe thats why there is a quarter inch gap routed for it to sit into. Also between the caulk and the construction adhesive there is noway in the world any water is getting to the flex its self
