Re: boa eating rat that's too big

what snake and what size rat? lol... can you get a pic "in action"?

You would be surprised what they can get down their mouths... and also sometimes they are dumb and take forever... I had a boa sit with the rat halfway down her mouth for about an hour one night... I freaked at first thinking maybe she choked on it... But she was fine and eventually got it down... and it was her regular size meal as well...

Re: boa eating rat that's too big

My 4 footer played with a rat (F/T, don't panic) last night like a cat before he swallowed it.

Re: boa eating rat that's too big

a large rat MIGHT be a little big for a 4ft boa depending on the boa... My boas that are eating larges are about 5ft maybe a tad less... and I feed my males larges for a long time after they first hit larges...

but still... he should be able to get it down, lol...

Re: boa eating rat that's too big

He looks like he will be fine...it looks like a pretty heathy snack, but it only looks slightly larger than diameter than him...that my opinion...let him take his time and remember he has curved teeth.

Re: boa eating rat that's too big

IMO I think it may be a little too big, but that's just me. It may be slightly too large & he's just taking his time trying to get it down. I had a male KSB that took FOREVER to eat his meals.

Re: boa eating rat that's too big

it always takes chance at least 45 minutes to eat a rat. my DUM takes forever too. my other snakes inhale them.
